Sherlock® KPI: Slackers versus Workaholics

When we released Sherlock 2.3, there were a few interesting updates that came along with it. One of them was the ability to tell which of your users are slackers and which ones are crippling your system – no really. We released a new component with Sherlock 2.3 called Sherlock KPI. It indexes your populated audit database and pulls in the number of times a report has been viewed and refreshed. It also pulls in the users doing the refreshing and viewing. We updated the Sherlock Universe to include relevant objects for that data as well. We even introduced a special object into the Sherlock Universe that determines the effective laziness of a user and categorizes them (e.g., slacker, mildly lazy, active, busy, and killing my servers). Okay, so that last part is a lie, but not a bad idea.

Sherlock® 2.3 is Live

Our code monkeys have been hard at work these last months on the latest and greatest in the Sherlock Inspector Suite. For those of you just joining us, that includes both Sherlock for SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise and Edge, as well as Sherlock CS Edition for SAP Crystal Server. We are TERRIBLE at telling our customers “no” when it comes to new features, so this one is no exception on the new feature dance card. With that, I am happy to share that Sherlock 2.3 has the green light for download.

Evolving Intelligence

It has been a few years since my good friends and I sat in my basement and began exploring the idea of building software to accompany SAP BusinessObjects. As I sit here reflecting on our journey, I am reminded of how fortunate we are for having opportunities, amazing colleagues, and customers that have turned out to be incredible champions for us. But the amazing thing to me is how I have learned over and over again that they can challenge us to continually innovate.
