Near real-time and historic session tracking for your SAP BusinessObjects deployments
We at EV Technologies are excited to announce the release of our latest solution – Sherlock® System Metrics. This new engine allows an SAP BusinessObjects customer to monitor various metrics about their deployments. One in particular that I wanted to highlight in this post is active sessions. This session data is trackable in a near real-time scenario or you can view trends based on historic data captured by the Sherlock® System Metrics engine.
Armed with this aggregated session information, an SAP BusinessObjects administrator, BI Competency Center, or planning committee can make decisions about how the deployment may need to be tuned for the incoming number of requests, whether new hardware needs to be acquired during purchasing cycles, whether they have the right number of licenses to handle the incoming requests, and other operationally and strategically focused decisions to improve the health and stability of their SAP BusinessObjects deployment.
How does it work?
Our Sherlock® System Metrics engine continually polls your SAP BusinessObjects deployment based on a definable polling interval. We grab the necessary data from your deployment, do some calculations, transform the data a bit, and store it in the Sherlock® repository. The data captured by Sherlock® System Metrics is surfaced through a SAP BusinessObjects Universe on top of which we’ve already provided one pre-built Web Intelligence document that provides the following aggregated views of session information:
In addition, the document provides information on the average, max, min, and median sessions for the life of the deployment along with the busiest and quietest period.
As the data generated by this new engine is surfaced through a Universe, you can also build your own BI content using tools with which you are already familiar. The Universe provides various metrics focused on giving you easy access to information about the services deployed in your SAP BusinessObjects environment, the properties associated with those services, and metrics relevant to tracking the number of active sessions for your deployment at any given point in time.
